I was asked to show options for furniture layout in the living room. One of them is the classic two sofas face to face, great for conversations and for couples who need  his an her space. It does create a rather static symmetrical space that will please the order addicts. It also emphases a focal point like a fireplace, an important view or a piece of art (please, not a TV!). Very often, we use armless or one arm sofa to open the conversation to one or both sides, and we use a long, slightly over size coffee table in between, or better an accumulation of small tables.
