Those kitchens play with the high contrast and the sense of scale. I like the solution of the blackened wood or the flat lacquer as neutral material against the wood and the richness of the other elements. They make me think of a Pierre Soulages painting against a white wall. “out of darkness came light … My instrument was no longer the black but this secret light it radiated.”
